Hickory Ridge Golf Course first opened for play in 1995. The courses were designed by David and Kenneth Dart.
Hickory Ridge Golf Course has among rolling hills, winding valleys and breathtaking vistas. All three nines are mid-length courses, so they are great for beginners, but offer a nice challenge for more experienced golfers. Hickory Ridge also offers one of the largest driving ranges in the area, with natural and artificial grass tees along with a large practice green and bunker.

Hickory Ridge is challenging for all levels of golfers, and is a very affordable option in the Kalamazoo, MI area. The three 9-hole courses offer variety as well when putting together a set of 18 to play. I definitely recommend paying them a visit!

Looking for courses I haven't played within 1hr or 60miles from my house and this 1995, 27 hole, David & Keith Dart layout looked interesting. With the weekday Senior rate of $18 for 18/cart....I'd give it a try. The yardage is very short here but it gives you a chance to work the dust off those low irons. Red course: 2,370yd/Par 33, White course: 2,076yd/Par 33, Blue course: 2,180yd/Par 33 are all from the tips with the other two (2) tee boxes progressively shorter. The first three (3) holes of each course start out on the flats and then work up into the hilly ridge area that offers more of a challenge. Scattered trees below and more tree lined fairways up above, offer the only hazards you'll face. Some fairways are mowed narrow but the rough is mostly friendly to play from. The small round greens (7-9) hold and roll nice but no sand traps to be seen. There are four (4) Par 3's found on each nine (9) and all well under the longest #1 180yd on the Blue course. The #7 447yd Par 5 on the Red course is the longest (426, 440) of the three (3) Par 5's. No holes really stand out but the hilly wooded area added some challenges. I did have fun playing here, playing Red/Blue courses shooting 35/34 w/34 putts in 2hr 45minutes and having some nice views from the hilly areas. Worth stopping and playing this home built course at a low price.....with feel good results.
